Aesop's Fable

From time to time a will open Aesop's Fables and select a story randomly. This is the story that was presented tonight. Just wanted to share it. Don't be a party to your own destruction.

The Man and the Wood

A Man came into a Wood one day with an axe in his hand, and begged all the Trees to give him a small branch which he wanted for a particular purpose. The Trees were good-natured and gave him one of their branches. What did the Man do but fix it into the axe head, and soon set to work cutting down tree after tree. Then the Trees saw how foolish they had been in giving their enemy the means of destroying themselves.

No Excuses!

I've been in Baltimore for a year and a half now. I don't have a car but I get around quite well on the bus. One thing I hear often is excuses for failure and justification for mediocrity. People will give every reason why they can't do something and never why they can. That's for losers. Winners see problems only as new solutions for profit!

This leads me to the inspiration of this post. There's a guy I've seen on the buss a few times. He's in a wheel chair. You've probably seen people get around on their own in a wheel chair too. But this guy takes it further. He has one arm. That's right, one arm. His legs are amputated above the knees and his left arm right at the elbow. I see him get on and off the buss, and whip his wheel chair around all by himself. No help.

Now here's a guy who can make excuses. But he's out doing what he has to do. There's a quote that says use what you got to get what you want.

No more excuse by me and I will not accept any from anyone else anymore. Losers make excuses. Winners do what it takes to get it done. Period.

The Key to Winning

Hello. I'm going to to get the hang of blogging soon enough, just bare with me. Currently I'm reading a book called The Little Black Book Of Connections by Jeffrey Gotimer. I first came across his work via an audio book at the library. Shout out to Enoch Pratt Free Library in Downtown Baltimore. That audio book is called The Little Gold Book of Yes Attitude. I instantly decided to pay attention. He has great videos out and some other great books as well. I wanted to post this quote from The Little Black Book of Connections to serve as some sort of motivation for you to make the changes needed to improve your life if you need to.

The Little Black Book of Connections by Jeffrey Gitomer p.90

Here's The Key To Winning:

Put action items into your daily work plan and dedicate the time to do them. Think of it as making appointments for your own success. Make at least three appointments with yourself a week. Make them one hour appointments, and keep them.

If you do this, you will have 150 hours of time dedicated to your success in one year.

Note: Make sure at least half of this time is spent one-on-one with connections that are imperative to your success. The rest of the time can be spent writing, preparing your e-zine, or taking other actions to be a value-provider.
